Ichisumi on the other hand has a pretty intricate costume, between the kimono and the sandals, so I hope I didn't simplify it too much.

She's definitely in a lot of pink otherwise though. The NES style sprites for DD4 (with outlines present) make it hard to tell if she has sandals (?) on under the typical Mai Shiranui-esque toes/heel-exposing ankle guards (and the two frames that could clarify it more, when she climbs a ladder, keep her feet flat) or if it's just the sprite borders. To be honest, I'm not quite sure Ayumi is (essentially) barefoot. Ichisumi shifts her weight, lifting one foot out of her ridiculous heeled platform sandals, and blocks the ninja girl's incoming leg with her fan arm, smirking. Some mountain dojo/fortress in the background at night, I suppose.Īyumi yells and attacks with a hopping high kick. That's not a knock at the retro graphics, and it had some interesting features (being able to play as ANY character in story mode and a survival tower was neat, including Ayumi here) but it just seemed to pop up and out very fast.ĭD Neon, on the other hand, people probably recognize more due its heavy 80s style (and soundtrack.and character design.and amazing villain etc).Ī bit of a fight and/or sparring scene between these two really lesser known characters (you think 'female enemy' in relation to Double Dragon and you get 'Linda and.uh.hm.') at.er.on.well, this is another case where I drew up an action scene w/out thinking of a background until very late in the pic. DD4 kind of came and went with very little fanfare a few years back, looking and somewhat acting like a solid but (IMO) somewhat forgettable 'expansion pack' to the original DD2 from the NES. Fast, tosses around shuriken and smoke bombs and is a jump kicking annoyance.ĭouble Dragon 4? You mean Super Double Dragon back on the SNES/Super Famicom, right? Nope. On the back right we have Ayumi, a mercenary kunoichi hired by the Renegades in Double Dragon 4. 'Most refined' Ichisumi was a bit of a support enemy: teleporting around and throwing razor-sharp fans (and rarely a melee spin attack) while the Lee bros dealt with Williams(es) and the rest of the grunts. On the left foreground we have Ichisumi, a kimono-clad geisha in the employ of the (hilarious) super-lich Skullmageddon, from Double Dragon Neon.

Does it count as 'obscure' to show a little duel pic between two lesser known female enemies from a well-known series?
